When you are a purchaser or just a customer in general and you know what you want but do not know the process required then it may be difficult to find what you are looking for. An example might be an internal spline in a gear, and for that there are many ways to produce this but you might not be aware of the process. The problem with manufacturers is that they will list all of their equipment, but you are not the machinist.
I have written this page with the hopes that you will find what you are looking for with a simple internet search. "Internal splines Calgary" will ideally point you to a section on this page. It will let you know what splines I can manufacture without you having to know the process.
I have also included many of the products we offer, many of them in stock or ready to machine. Support a local Canadian business !

There are several different methods to knurl a part, each with varying results and quality. We have invested in the method which provides the highest quality possible, cut type knurling.

Cut type knurling gives the best possible and most reliable outcome, very important when a part needs to be functional and aesthetically pleasing.

We can provide custom engraving for your part numbers in a variety of materials and fonts.

This example shows the use of a milling cutter which is best suited for softer materials such as aluminum and mild steels. It requires the part to be perfectly flat for best results.

ANSI B92 is the most common standard when it comes to splines, B92.1 being imperial and B92.2 being metric.
There are three types of fit;
Fillet Root Side Fit
Flat Root Side Fit
Flat Root Major Fit
Each and every fit will work with each other, the fit is more of a strength and manufacturing detail. The most common is the Flat Root Side fit as this allows a tool radius and gives good strength, a fillet in the corner prevents fatigue cracking. Fillet Root Side Fit gives the largest fillet but can potentially cause weaker splines. Flat root major fit leaves little room for a fillet, potentially stronger splines at the high risk of fatigue cracking.
Generally the strongest combination with lowest risk of fatigue cracking would be both internal and external Flat Root Side Fit.
The picture shows 6 of the same size splines with all the fit types for both internal and external. The thing to note is that for the internal fit the minor diameter stays the same, the major is what gets smaller from Fillet Side to Flat Major.

A spline will be defined as 30-12/24-20 Flat Root Side Fit.
30 is the pressure angle, almost always 30 degrees.
12/24 is the spline pitch, 12 diametric pitch, 24 stub pitch
20 is the number of teeth.
This spline may also be defined as 1-3/4-20T
I use an online B92 spline generator to get all of my dimensions and generate the spline to the middle tolerances, it is up to the customer to confirm if these are ok or send their own tolerances.
As in the picture I used the wire EDM to cut a bunch of common spline types, mostly as a template for in person customers. I can also cut custom splines to any pattern the customer wishes.
Here is an average cost for a one-off part for every inch of thickness. Multiple pieces will be given a discount.
30-16/32-9 or 5/8-9T will cost $54 per inch
30-16/32-13 or 7/8-13T will cost $70 per inch
30-16/32-15 or 1-15T will cost $80 per inch
30-16/32-21 or 1-3/8-21T will cost $105 per inch
30-12/24-14 or 1-1/4-14T will cost $95 per inch
30-12/24-20 or 1-3/4-20T will cost $130 per inch

These are some 7/8" threaded bolts made from 4330, with a hex flat of 1.5 inches. Customer supplied the material. They were machined on a CNC lathe and CNC milling machine.

There was an order for 16pcs and I was able to make them for $56.00 each, not including cost of material.
Simple parts like these can often be turned around the same week.

These are some 5/16 threaded studs with different thread types on each end. They were machined on a CNC lathe.

There was an order for 40pcs and I was able to make them for $11.82 each.
Simple parts like these can often be turned around the same week.

This is a 2 inch long shaft coupler with an 8mm bore and 3mm keyway. This part does not exist on the shelf and had to be custom made.
It would be extremely difficult to broach this keyway at such a length, which makes it perfect for the wire EDM. Our wire EDM can cut a keyway up to 5.5 inches thick at sub 0.0005" accuracies.

This part was also wire cut on the outside to be perfectly concentric to the bore, for a one off piece it came to $180. For just the bore it would have been $80. Multiple pieces would be given a discount.
There are no setup or programming costs and the bonus is this part can often be turned around the same day.

This is a 14 tooth size L trapezoidal timing pulley with a 22mm bore made using a wire EDM. It does not exist on the shelf and was custom made for a 22mm servo motor shaft.
This part can only be made using a gear hob or a wire EDM, a hob requiring a very expensive cutter. Our wire EDM can cut a pulley up to 5.5 inches thick at sub 0.0005" accuracies.

This pulley is about 1.5 inches in diameter at 2.25 inches tall, for a one off piece it came to $400. Multiple pieces would be given a discount.
There are no setup or programming costs and the bonus is this part can often be turned around the same day.

This is a 40 tooth 8mm HTD timing pulley made using a wire EDM.
The internal tooth radius of a HTD8 is about 0.1" which means a very thin cutter to mill it conventionally, especially at this thickness. Our wire EDM can cut a pulley up to 5.5 inches thick at sub 0.0005" accuracies.

This pulley is about 4 inches in diameter at 1.5 inches tall, for a one off piece it came to $590. Multiple pieces would be given a discount.
There are no setup or programming costs and the bonus is this part can often be turned around the same day.

We can source material or customer can source their own.
Machining cost is $28.50 each with a minimum of 20pcs. That is inner machined, outer machined and welding together, a complete post.
Custom lengths available from 6 to 96 Inches
We have the capacity for 100pcs per day often with turn arounds in less than a week,
Posts are typically 3" in diameter, however 2.5IPS (2.875" diameter) is often a much more cheaper alternative.

These push piers are a low profile solution to providing or increasing current foundation support. This system allows the user to work in tight spaces without the need for heavy machinery equipment.
The multiple piers are pressed into the ground until a specific force is achieved, hydraulic systems and mounting plates available on further request.
